Thank you to Jessica for the tip on this great brunch place in Oud West run by the same guys behind restaurant Fraiche. There is no website, but there can check out a mouth-watering tumblr account showing you what brunch goodies you can look forward to. It was super busy the sunday we went and the waiter was kind enough to give our group of 6 some chairs so we could relax in the sunshine while we waited for a table to free up.
The brunch menu is impressive and the coffee is really good. We recommend the All round brunch , the fish tacos or the steak and eggs.
Don’t leave without trying the buttermilk pancakes with maple syrup.. mmm amazing.
Brunches in the city seem to be the sole preserve of expats e.g. Lovefood HQ, G’s and Little Collins. Bakers & Roasters is a a relatively new addition to the brunch club. Run by a Brazilian-Kiwi couple, this place has become the go-to place to nurse a hangover on a Sunday and nourish yourself with a hearty brunch.
They are known for excellent coffee and my favourite flat white was near perfect. The tempting cakes and scrumptious muffins are freshly baked.
The menu is mouth watering and includes salads and delicious dishes like the Egg Royale and Kiwi Brekkie.
Podium Mozaiek theatrecafe is a wonderful cafe in Bos en Lommer in Amsterdam West. The ever popular cafe is a warm, inviting space filled with young couples, big groups of friends and young families. The walls are painted white and there is a huge mirror giving the illusion of more space as well some interesting artwork and books. The chai latte is without doubt the best I have tried in Amsterdam. Mozaiek is well known for its Turkish breakfast which consists of eggs cooked as you prefer, many small plates with fruits, cheeses, meats, fresh breads and a pot of Turkish tea. I especially enjoyed the warm Turkish bread and the honey and yoghurt dip. The portions are quite big for 15 euro per person so be prepared to feel very full and lazy after the breakfast. Perfect way to spend the Sunday in my opinion.
Possibly one of the coolest vintage inspired bars/ restaurants in Amsterdam West. Open all day, this place is perfect to grab a delicious breakfast ( I recommend the scrambled eggs with parmesan or the farmstyle breakfast) and delicious coffee. The vibe is a mix of young families, hipsters and some tourists. Spek also has a lovely outside terrace overlooking the canal where you can enjoy their famous truffel pizzas and craft beers. Its a nice place for after work drinks and I can recommend the gin tonic. Its an absolute gem if you want to hang out like an Amsterdam local.
