Yscupje– locations around the city (which cleverly turns into Stampotje in the winter months)- I recommend the fruit sorbets, Boerejongens, and Hazelnut flavours.
Monte Pelmo Ijsfabriek- Jordaan- Perfect location in the Jordaan’s Tweede Angeliersdwarsstraat which has some good restaurants such as Mangi Assai and Tapas Bar Oliva. Order a pizza from La Perla and while you wait for the order, take a stroll down the street and get some ice-cream from Monte Pelmo. Perfect for people watching on a sunny afternoon.
I discovered the Ijsmakerij quite randomly one afternoon while exploring the streets around the Ten Kate market with my friend Jess. It was already quite late and the shop seemed closed when we peered into the shop window to catch a glimpse of the interior. The owner suddenly appeared and invited us inside to try the ice cream. Now I have to say, I was not expecting such a creative variety of flavours such as Gin&tonic, Chocolate with salted caramel and rosemary and even Three Peppers. The owner chastised us for asking for too many tasting samples. In the end we settled on lemon sorbet and orange ginger and mango sorbet. This was easily the best ice cream I ever tasted in the Netherlands and I dare you to taste it and disagree!
